Karnataka | Water-Falls | Jog Falls
Jog falls is the highest plunge waterfalls in India and the 7th deepest in the world. It is located in the Shimoga District of Karnataka State. The Falls are created by the Sharavathi river falling from a height of 253 meters(829 Ft). I happened to visit this place with my sister(Vanitha) and brother-in-law(Venkat) during my visit to my sister's house @ Banglore for Diwali vacation. Jog falls is around 379 Km from Banglore via Shimoga. We traveled over night and reached Jog Falls by next day morning. The waterfall was less as we went 2 months after the rainy season. But, this turned out to be boon in disguise as we got a chance to go to the bottom of the waterfall. Though it looked very simple, it took us around an hour to reach the bottom of the falls. We had lot of fun under the natural shower. It was almost noon when we started trekking back. This was a bit tough climb as there were no proper steps to reach top. Still, we could manage to climb up in one and half hour. We traveled back to Banglore on the same night with lot of fun filled memories. This is a nice place to visit, specially for family and friends who come in groups.
